We are committed to addressing the environmental issues related to our organisations activities, products and services. Our environmental policy includes a commitment to prevent pollution from our activities and operations; continuous improvement and compliance with environmental regulations. We educate our employees and contractors on their environmental responsibilities and ensure this is integrated into their work practices, training and decision making.


EPA Licenced

We are EPA authorised to carry Waste Transport for Category A and B solid and liquid wastes in both SA and NSW. Solid waste includes domestic (on behalf of councils) Contaminated Soil, Medical waste, Asbestos friable and non friable and solid waste from any commercial or industrial premises or teaching/research institution. Liquid waste includes grease trap/vegetable, Septic tank effluent, water/oil mixtures/ inert sludge/wool scouring sludge, water based paint sludge, PCBs, HCBs, OCPs etc., waste oil, acids, alkalis, organic solvents.


Environmental Management System

We have an Environmental Management System based on Standard ISO: 14001 to identify and control any risks to the environment before they result in harm; with an appointed Environmental Manager and Implementation & Review Team.


Business Eco-efficiency

Business Eco-efficiency means producing goods and services using less energy and fewer natural resources. This results in less waste and pollution, leading to a reduction in resource costs and environmental impacts. We have in place a Business Eco-efficiency Plan whereby we have achieved our goal to reduce our impact on the environment by decreasing materials going to landfill by 30% and reducing energy consumption by 10%. Internationally, eco-efficiency has been identified as a way business can contribute to ensuring a sustainable society by doing more with less.


Environmental plumbing / water & energy saving

As licensed EcoSmart plumbers, our plumbing division, Smith Brothers Plumbing is trained in water audits and in the design and installation of environmentally sustainable plumbing solutions. We encourage and advise on efficient technology and products.
